Helping to keep the Manchester Ship Canal clean
We all know Manchester has its fair share of rainy days! But sometimes these prolonged downpours can overwhelm the sewer network, resulting in water containing diluted sewage entering local brooks and streams, which could eventually flow into the Manchester Ship Canal.
Over the past 5 years we've been digging deep to carry out improvement work on our sewer network across Greater Manchester, investing over £150 million to build bigger sewers and contribute to helping a number of watercourses become cleaner.
Take a look at our time lapse video, we've been busy digging some pretty big holes (some up to a massive 33 metres deep) at our site in Trafford Park.
