You can pay your bill in several different ways: by cash, cheque, postal order, debit or credit card, over the phone or online.

Also, don’t forget with My Account you can pay online without having to enter your personal details each time. It’s easy to register and you can also opt for paperless billing.

Paying your bill online is the most convenient way to make a payment. Have your account number to hand, together with your debit or credit card details to make a payment.

Set up a Direct Debit

Setting up a Direct Debit is the most convenient way to pay your water bill - and you get a £5 annual discount too. Find out more information about setting up a Direct Debit.

Pay by cash

Take your bill or United Utilities Payment Card with you to either:

There are no counter fees for cash payments at Payzone stores or Post Offices.

By cheque

Please make your cheque payable to United Utilities Water Limited and send it with your payment slip to the address shown on your bill. Do not send cash through the post. Please remember to write your customer account number on the back of the cheque (you can find your account number on the top right of your bill).

Ping It

Ping It is a mobile payment service operated by Barclays, allowing you to pay your bill using your smartphone. You don’t have to bank with Barclays to use the service – visit Ping It for further info and to download the app. Once registered you can scan the QR code on your water bill and make a payment.

At your bank

You can pay at your own bank or building society. Just take your bill with you. You can pay by cash or with a cheque made payable to United Utilities Water Limited.

Please be aware that some banks and building societies will charge for this service.

Pay by debit or credit card

There are a number of options if you wish to pay by credit or debit card:

  • phone our automated payments line on 0800 9 80 60 50;
  • pay online;
  • if you're already registered for My Account you can log into your account to make a card payment.
  • you can also pay at your local Post Office using your debit card

Remember to have your account number to hand when paying by debit or credit card (you can find this on your water bill).
