Jacksons Edge - latest update

Our plans and detailed drawings are still available on the Cheshire East website, reference 12/4067M.

Temporary footpath closure

We're sorry, but we've had to temporarily close one of the public footpaths around the reservoir as it passes through our working area. The footpath is closed for the duration of our project, but don't worry we'll fully reopen the path and plant more trees when we've completed our work. Take a look at our map showing the location of the closed path and alternative routes.

Jacksons Edge Road

Jacksons Edge Road is now open to traffic with the road closure that allowed us bring the excavated spoil back to site for landscaping ending as planned.

We've also:

  • moved 40,000 tonnes of earth to the storage field,
  • finished building the outfall pipe on Jacksons Edge Road and Stanley Hall Lane,
  • started building the outfall pipe in the fields,
  • finished the construction of the new valve house (control centre) and completed the cable work so we have communication with the reservoir,
  • finished building the new reservoir and are in the process of carrying out tests before we can put it into service and demolish the old reservoir,
  • started filling in around the new reservoir with the spoil we moved to the storage field. We've brought around 210 lorry loads, per day, of spoil back up from the storage field to the new reservoir site.

What have we done so far?

Over the past year we've worked hard to build the new service reservoir. The first tank is now working, the second tank has been built and is being tested before bringing it into service. We've also:

  • moved 40,000 tonnes of earth to the storage field and returned to the site so we can use it for landscaping the area,
  • finished building the outfall pipe on Jacksons Edge Road and Stanley Hall Lane,
  • built the outfall pipe in the fields,
  • constructed the new valve house (control centre) and completed the cable work so we have communication with the reservoir,
  • built and tested the new reservoir
  • demolished the old reservoirs

What's next?

We are nearing the end of our work but we will be returning to the site next year to complete final landscaping work.

Getting things back to normal in Disley
